Here Comes Halloween!!!

Yay! Here comes Halloween and all the beautiful or spooky costumes and the tricks or treats.
Unfortunately, I am not the typical mom that goes all out to celebrate Halloween. I personally don't dress up in costume and go for trick or treat or decorate the house with pumpkins, but I am the mom who also doesn't kill the excitement for my kids and make them feel alone in school with no costume.

Just so you know, I have nothing against Halloween in any way, I know there are people against it due to beliefs or because of the history of Halloween, which is usually attached to witchcraft. I sincerely don't follow all that, but it's their family and they can choose what's best for them, I don't think they should be judged for that. I personally do believe it's ok for the kids, it's not like they will become witches/wizards or ghosts and so on after Halloween is gone.

Halloween is exciting for kids with so much fun, they always look forward to the costume and excited about going to school to show off to their friends and see their costumes too, why kill the excitement right?

This year my first son is a police officer, he doesn't really like spooky things and being a police officer is his dream. When we were shopping for a costume, immediately we found the police costume, he didn't want any other one. He was so excited to put it on this morning and I got a quick picture of him blowing the whistle, before going to school.

Fortunately for me, the management of the building we live in made a beautiful Halloween decoration on the ground floor, so it was easy for me to take pictures and make it all look fun and also thrilling for him.

I just want to let my kids be kids, it's their time to have fun and enjoy the moment. It's not about me or if I love to celebrate Halloween or not,  its fun and exciting to them.  They don't attach any meaning to it, except that it's entertaining, so I am letting my kids be kids.

Happy Halloween to you all, I do hope you all have fun with the tricks or treats.

  1. While myself and my family do not observe halloween because of our beliefs, I do understand what you mean by doing something for your kids. I'm the type that wants to be the soccer mom and my husband doesn't lol. But I see him sacrifice his time to be " that dad" at moments and it is a selfless act. :) I love your honesty.

  3. Yes, it's fun for them. We did trunk or treats this weekend and went to some fall festivals. My daughter even mentioned how fun it is to see the other kids dressed up. I could do without the scary creepy stuff and I'm glad my kids don't choose to dress like that right now or yet.

  7. I tried to get into the spirit of it this year and it was fun to just step out of character for a minute to be somebody different. Me, with attitude and ferocity. Felt good.

  11. That's so great that you're showing your kids that you may have your own reasons for not celebrating or going over the top, and they have their reasons for loving it. And you aren't standing in their way of their fun. We love halloween in our household, but we don't really do the carving pumpkins or decor thing. It's neat to see how families carry their own traditions and have their own fave holidays as a family.

  13. I pretty much was that way too...I could go either way, not really into it or against it either. I just let my kids dress up and go out if they wanted to. They have had several fun years of dressing up and gathering some treats, which will be memories for them forever. Now they are getting into their teens and are "too old" to go trick or treating :( They stay home and pass out candy or want to just hang out low key. They'll change before you know it.

    1. This is exactly the way I see it, all this fun time and costumes will soon be over and they move on to something else. The fun and memory will be fun to share in the future.

  18. Halloween is coming up ! I still don’t have a costume ! What kind of candy should I get ? Trick or Tracy ? I don’t feel pressured to give into the tyranny of Halloween. One of my main job on Halloween is to stay home, wait for the doorbell to ring and give kids candy. That’s it. I am ready with delicious full-sized candy for those kids. Even if they are just dressed as kids with bags. No problem. You get candy :-)
